Developing a Growth Mindset Culture in Schools (Primary and Secondary)

Who is this programme for?
For Primary and Secondary Headteachers, Senior and Middle Leaders, KS1 to KS5 teachers, and anyone with a keen interest in developing a growth mindset culture within their school or classroom.

Outcomes
Delegates will increase their knowledge, skills and understanding of Carol Dwek’s theory of growth mindset and discover innovative ways of introducing the concept into schools to impact on pupil learning.

The following will be explored during the session:

  • An introduction to Carol Dwek’s theory of growth mindset
  • How to relate growth mindset to learning and academic success
  • Evidence of proven success in changing attitudes to learning with positive results

Who is the Trainers
This course has been designed and is delivered by Sue Crace – a primary Headteacher with recent experience of turning attitudes to learning around with the introduction of a growth mindset culture within her school and others. Sue is passionate about positive attitudes to learning and has many practical suggestions which can be taken directly back to school.

How will my School benefit?
Delegates will have a clear understanding of the theory of growth mindset. They will be encouraged to consider their own mindsets and how these impact on their teaching. They will learn what fixed and growth mindsets are and how they can have a positive and negative impact on learning. Delegates will explore a wealth of innovative ideas and resources that can be taken back to schools and used instantly and shared with staff. Delegates will have a direct link with the trainer who will be able to offer bespoke advice following the training.

Increased positive attitudes towards learning resulting in raising standards of attainment and confidence in pupils.
