Executive Headteacher

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Dagenham & St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Barking

About Me

Following my qualification as a teacher in 1998 I started my career in a small primary school in Romford, Essex. I became a senior leader and then Deputy Head at this school before moving to a non-class based Deputy Head role at a larger primary school in Ilford in 2006. Whilst in this post I completed my NPQH and then in 2010 secured my first headship at a small primary school in Dagenham. The school moved from an ofsted judgement of ‘good’ in 2011 to ‘outstanding’ in 2014. In 2016 I took on the role of Executive Headteacher  working with another local primary school which had been judged as ‘requires improvement’ in its last two inspections. The school secured a very secure ‘good’ judgement in its 2017 inspection. In January 2018 I was appointed as the Executive Headteacher of the St. Joseph’s Catholic School’s Hard Federation. I currently act as a mentor for newly appointed headteachers within our Diocese and supported with the delivery of the 2016-2017 ‘Developing Leaders’ course for aspiring Catholic headteachers.

I still have a passion for promoting and embedding effective teaching and learning which enables staff to deliver outstanding practice. I specialise in the areas of effective self-evaluation and use of data to help drive improvement and work largely with Heads of schools and Headteachers to support them in their school improvement cycle and statutory duties.
