Andrew Eastwick

Head of Mathematics

The Mayflower High School, Billericay

About Me

I have been teaching Maths for over 20 years in a variety of different schools across Essex.  I am currently Head of Maths at Mayflower, where I have been for the last seven years. During this time we have regularly gained and improved on, our best results ever at GCSE and A Level.

Prior to Mayflower, I worked for Essex LA as a Mathematics consultant and supported many secondary schools in Essex with the development of their curriculum and creating strategies to improve their results. I was also responsible for working with agencies to develop projects to enhance the curriculum liaising between different groups to ensure research happened in schools.

I am a member of the ATM and keep up-to-date with changes and developments within the Maths curriculum ,having attended conference, as a guest and a presenter.

I believe that Maths is a beautiful, creative subject and that as teachers we need to be engaging and thoughtful in our approach. It is important to understand the underlying issues of mathematics as it is from here we can appreciate misconceptions and find ways to overcome them.

I look forward to working with you to develop ideas and strategies to help improve mathematics everywhere.
