Perils of Social Media (Primary and Secondary Leaders and Line Managers)

Outcomes
This session will look at the impact of social media in the employment context from safeguarding and workplace bullying to breaches of confidentiality and reputational damage. Delegates will learn about prevention and management of these issues.

The following will be explored during the session:

  • The framework of legislation, policy and standards surrounding social media in the school employment context
  • The risks and consequences
  • The impact of mis-use of social media on the employment relationship
  • Social media and recruitment
  • Parental complaints on social media

Who are the Trainers?
This course has been designed and will be delivered by the Education HR Service whose officers have a wealth of experience dealing with issues arising from the mis-use of social media in the school context.

How will my students benefit?
This course will contribute to individual and whole school safeguarding practices.

How will my School benefit?
The session will provide delegates with a clear understanding of the legislative, standards and policy framework designed to prevent problems arising and to protect the school, its pupils and its staff.  In addition, recognising that practice does not always conform to expectations, delegates will understand how to manage mis-use of social media by staff and parents.
