The Approach

Maths Mastery is an approach which prioritises depth of understanding, alongside high expectations of every child. This course is designed to explain practical approaches to teaching Maths Mastery through careful lesson design.

Who is this course for?
This course is for Primary Maths Subject Leaders, Classroom Teachers and anyone with a keen interest in the provision for maths in their primary setting.

Outcomes

Delegates will increase their knowledge, skills and understanding of Maths Mastery and gain new ideas to use within the classroom.

The following will be explored during the session:

• Lesson design (Please bring examples of current weekly plans for mathematics)
• Practical approaches to set a Mastery culture across the school
• Opportunities to discuss with other classroom teachers and fellow primary maths leaders

Who are the Trainers?
Kimberley Swanton is Deputy Headteacher at St Peter’s and has led Mathematics for a number of years in a range of primary schools. She is passionate about the planning process so that all children achieve the best they possibly can.

How will my School benefit?
Delegates will not only leave the course confident in their ability to plan for Maths Mastery in the classroom but will also get the opportunity to design a lesson with the support of others. There will be opportunities to ask questions, discuss how to plan specifically for their school and they will also end the session with a clear plan for what to do next to increase the impact they have in their own classroom and school as a whole.
