Aim and Outcomes
This programme is for Primary and Secondary Deputy Headteachers who are preparing for Headship. Delegates will increase their knowledge and understanding of key areas expected of a Headteacher, and will feel more confident and prepared when applying for posts. Each session provides delegates with opportunities to develop and explore concepts, and deepen their thinking whilst working with colleagues from other schools and sharing experiences.
The programme comprises four half-day afternoon sessions over one term.
- Strategic financial management of the school
- Working with governors and the community
- Tackling a new Headship
- Health and safety and safeguarding, including child protection
How will my school and students benefit?
The course enables colleagues to consider how these topics will impact on the way they work now in school and how they help in the preparation for Headship.
- Setting the strategic direction for their team
- Building relationships and developing people
- Developing the organisation
- Securing accountability
- Fostering a culture of professionalism
Who is running the Programme?
Each session is run by a Headteacher who will share their career experiences as well as leading the topic for the session. This is a chance for you to learn more about Headship from those who are doing the job!
