Developing Senior Leadership Potential - Primary and Secondary
This programme is designed for primary and secondary teachers wishing to develop and deepen their knowledge and understanding of being an effective Senior leader. It was designed at the request of Headteachers and CPD Leaders to be run instead of NPQSL. It is significantly less expensive and requires less time out of the classroom thus reducing supply costs.
Course delegates will undertake a whole school research project with the focus on ’Closing the Gap’. Schools will choose a coach for each of their delegates who will help to guide them through the project and assist with organisational and practical elements of the programme.
Over the course of the academic year, this programme focuses on a number of key issues including:
- What does effective leadership look like?
- How can I prepare effectively for Senior Leadership?
- The role of the Senior Leader in Closing the Gap
- Effective Leadership Skills
- Leadership of Change
- Effective Team Management
- Closing the Gap presentations
- Action Planning
The programme comprises of 6 twilight sessions (4.00pm—6.00pm) spread across the academic year.
Through a Closing the Gap project delegates will fully explore the role of the Senior Leader including effective team management, coaching as a tool for improvement, effective leadership skills, leadership of change and leading outstanding teaching and learning. Delegates will experience a variety of key facilitation techniques, have an understanding of some key leadership theorists and be supported by a variety of materials that will build up into a personal set of resources for future leadership growth.
How will my school benefit?
Delegates will develop leadership skills that will further consolidate and strengthen leadership within their schools. Through the Closing the Gap project delegates will be effectively contributing to whole school improvement agenda and priorities.
How will my students benefit?
The Closing the Gap project will help to reduce an attainment gap within the delegates school. Strengthened leadership skills with a focus on leading outstanding teaching and learning will contribute to the raising of expectations within the school setting.
