Who is this course for?
Primary subject leaders or anyone looking to change the way they approach subject leadership in order to ‘Put your Subject on the map!’
Delegates will develop their understanding of their role of subject leader within a primary setting. They will have ideas to inspire other members of staff, promote their subject, develop staff subject knowledge and impress their SLT with their subject leadership.
The following will be explored during the session:
- The requirements of a subject leader
- How to inspire and not overload
- Ideas for assessment
- Tips to reduce workload for yourself and others.
Who is delivering this training?
This course is designed and delivered by Hannah Barton who is an SLE (specialist leader of education) for reading, geography, teaching and learning. Hannah is currently head of curriculum and middle leaders within her school and drives improvement of middle leadership, focussing on foundation subject leadership. She also leads reading within her school; works with a focus on driving standards and creative approaches.

Delegates will have a clear understanding of how they can approach subject leadership by inspiring others and raising the profile of their subject within their school. Delegates will have the opportunity to see how subject leadership varies from school to school and the pros cons of these approaches.
