Challenges of Management (Primary and Secondary)

Who is this programme for?
This programme is aimed at Senior Leaders across your school or MAT (i.e., aspiring Headteachers, Heads of Faculty, Heads of Dept, Business or Finance managers, Catering Managers, Facilities Managers and Team and Area Leaders).  It will be particularly useful for those who are new to management, or those who wish to further develop and enhance existing skills.

Through this highly interactive programme, held over 3 twilight sessions, delegates will increase their knowledge and understanding of their role and responsibilities as a leader or manager, how to be successful with both HR-related and other management responsibilities, and how to tackle them in a robust, fair and consistent way.  Through exploring case studies and scenarios, management techniques and strategies, delegates will increase in confidence and feel better equipped to address challenges issues faced when back in their organisation.

Some of the areas covered are listed below;

  • Recruitment, Induction and probation
  • People Management
  • Managing attendance and absence (long and short term)
  • Performance Management, Accountability, Disciplinary, Capability and Grievance procedures
  • Dismissals, Resignations and References
  • Finance / Resource Management
  • Managing change

Who is delivering the programme?
This programme will be delivered by Kara Oldman of Essex Education Services.

How will my School benefit?
Delegates will be able to focus on specific areas and develop competencies in their teams that will have the greatest impact on improving staff wellbeing and the benefits this will bring.  These benefits are likely to include; higher staff retention, lower absence levels, improving motivation, health, productivity and performance, while reducing costs, for example those associated with recruitment, cover and sickness.

How will my students benefit?
Evidence demonstrates that improved staff wellbeing leads to improved student outcomes. As well as responding to more engaged teaching and non-teaching staff, they will benefit from a more consistent, stable, routine learning environment.

 What previous Delegates have said…
“I came away enthused and confident in applying techniques and strategies, in particular to address a current PM issue with a colleague.”

“Excellent examples in the work place”    “…. extremely informative.”

“……obviously a wealth of knowledge presented very clearly.”
